LOCATED IN PICTURESQUE NORTH YORKSHIRE, CRAVEN BARN PAYS HOMAGE TO THE ORIGINAL AGRICULTURAL STRUCTURE VISUALLY CONNECTING THE MAIN HOUSE TO ITS NATURAL SURROUNDINGS.
The design honours the building's agricultural character, utilising materials such as timber, natural stone and glass. A standout feature is the extensive use of glazing, flooding the interior spaces with natural light creating a seamless connection to the idyllic countryside. Notably, the east elevation showcases automated sliding doors, measuring over 4 meters in height and 12 meters in width, elegantly integrated into the existing steel frame structure.
This glazing not only introduces a modern aesthetic but also preserves the barn’s traditional charm. On the north elevation, large windows invite light into the space without overwhelming the structure, harmoniously sitting alongside the natural stone and timber cladding. These glass elements are integral to the design, offering unobstructed views and creating bright, open interior spaces.
